The Republic of Kazakhstan assumed sovereignty in 1991. Since then the country's industries has been functioning successfully, especially the oil sector. The same year "KazakhstanMunaiGas" was created and became the basis of the future prosperity of the national oil industry. A year later, in 1992, this corporation into the state holding company "MunaiGaz".
Many goals were attained in the short period of ten years: - the investigation of the Kazakhstanian branch of the Caspian shelf
- construction of pipelines
- opening of new fields.
The pipelines CPC Tengis-Novorossiisk (2001) and the oilfield Kazakhstan (2002) are significant for Kazakhstan and for the whole world.
In 1997, the national companies
"KazakhOil" and
"KazTransOil" were created, in 2001, according to government regulation the national
"Oil and Gas Transportation Company" was created.
In 2002, the national company
"KazMunaiGaz" was established in accordance to President Decree and government regulation No. 248 (February 25, 2006) as a result of merging between
"KazakhOil" and
"Oil and Gas Transportation Company".
In 2002, a branch establishment was founded for the purpose of the realization of mineral oil outside of Kazakhstan. The company
"TH KazMunaiGaz" was created as a result of merging of
"KazakhOil" and
"Munai-Implex".
It is important to note that according to government regulations
"Munai-Implex Company" was recognized as the official operator on the Kazakh side, and was given the right to realize the volumes of royalties. Following,
"TH KazMunaiGaz" has been given this responsibility.
In the process of the development of government programs of bringing in of foreign investments, many companies with foreign involvement were successfully established. Those companies are responsible for the exploitation of oilfields, the processing of oil and gas, as well as, transportation of gas and mineral oils.
One of these companies was
"Munai-Implex Holding S.A". It was created on December 12, 2000 and renamed to
"TH KazMunaiGaz Holding S.A" in August 2003.
"TH KazMunaiGaz Holding S.A" is registered and functioning according to the legislation of Luxemburg and is considered the main company, which also owns 100% of the shares of:
- Trade House KazMunaiGaz UK - Trade House KazMunaiGaz Ukraine - Trade House KazMunaiGaz AG - Trade House KazMunaiGaz Middle East - Trade House KazMunaiGaz China
